Community Foundation’s 2017 Spring Grant Cycle Opens

Mississauga, ON, March 1, 2017:  Registered charitable organizations serving people in Mississauga can now apply for a grant through the Community Foundation of Mississauga 2017 spring grant program. Applications and full details about the funds receiving applications are available through the Foundation’s website www.CFofM.org and visiting the pages for grant seekers.

“Ensuring community vitality has been our purpose, promise and passion since 2001 when we started connecting donors to community needs and opportunities” says Anne Marie Peirce, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Mississauga.  “Through the support of our generous donors and our annual grants to the charitable sector, we help build strong and resilient places to live, work and play, and where everyone can have a chance to succeed”

The Community Foundation of Mississauga is a member of Community Foundations of Canada and part of a national network of 191 community foundations across Canada. Members of this strong national network subscribe to rigorous framework of accountable practices and share three core roles.

The Foundation’s first role, like its peers across Canada, is to assist donors in realizing their philanthropic aspirations, matching these interests with community needs and organizations, and finding responsible and innovative ways to build an endowment base that will last forever.

Secondly, the Foundation takes the broadest view of what a community is and what it needs to succeed, serving as a source of significant and sustainable funding for a broad range of programs and services in the community. This is why grants support everything from shelter, sustenance and care for those most in need, to recreation, the arts, and the environment.

Thirdly, the Foundation provides leadership in community convening and works to solve the root causes of emergent issues. This helps the community become resilient, resourceful, and ready for the future.

Current grants are available to organizations serving Mississauga and providing programs and services for children and youth, health, human services, anti-poverty, community building, neighbourhood projects, arts, culture, heritage, the environment, food security, and more. The deadline to submit an application for a grant is Friday, March 31, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
